Partying in crisis
The crisis has hit even the entertainment business in our home country. The T-Mobil Kapcsolat Koncert is called off for good after 15 successful years with appearances of the cream of international stars.
The Coca-Cola Beach House in Siófok will be pulled down. It has been common practice at smaller events for some time that only a few members – often less than half of them – appear to perform programs hallmarked by the names of bands and/or stars, because the full team would be financially prohibitive. Festivals that have rightly achieved international recognition over the years keep or rather improve the standards, but even they are forced to employ methods to lure more audience. Just think of VOLT celebrating their 20th anniversary, the similarly 20-year-old SZIGET, BalatonSound, the exclusive resident of the Zamárdi Beach, the more than ten years old Hegyalja, the SZIN-térítés in Szeged, EFOTT (the wayfarer festival of undergraduates) and Pannonia Festival at a new location this year.
