Fradi in Dallas: personal experience, soccer disappointment
The last live international soccer game we attended in the Cotton Bowl was the Brazil-Holland match during the 1994 World Cup. As for a Hungarian team, we witnessed her demolition by the Soviet side in the 1986 World Cup in Irapuato, Mexico – 0:6. It could have been 0:12 but for the heroics of the Hungarian goalkeeper.

One Hungarian youngster played well - unfortunately he was on the Soviet roster from Ukraine. Later that year we participated with a team from Texas in an international indoor tournament where the Hungarian BKV Előre outplayed all others. Among their players was László Eisemann who later became the Fradi and national teams physio(therapist). We had a lot of reunion experience after 25 years. We checked into the same hotel where the Hungarians stayed. (we did this in 1986 with disappointing results. The Hungarian team was isolated and looked more like convicts than an all-star team.) On this occasion we mingled freely. In fact we ended up with more time then we had hoped for as the tournament was cancelled for lack of funds. The boys and staff were available and they provided us with autographs readily. According to rumor the anticipated attendance in Detroit did not materialize – the forecast for Dallas had been 40.000 – and the use of such an expensive venue was not possible.
